Spiritual creatures, to be loved...
... cared for, partnered with, and most of all learned from, this is what horses are to me. All of them, regardless of the breed, age or color, provide us human beings with tremendous learning and growing opportunities, everyday, in so many ways... they teach us about unconditional love, they teach us about spirit, the ability to go beyond our spirit and to reach places within and outside of ourselves we never dreamed about. I have devoted my life to protect the spirit of the horse and to find ways to be the best friend I can possibly be to them and I assist others who strive for the same goal.
Body work is beneficial for all of us. Equine Touch™ is one of my specialities because it can lead to significant results. Equine Touch™ is a gentle, hands-on discipline that works on a complete holistic level, in that it adresses the equine as a whole, without any particular focus on any individual problematic areas of the body. It is non-invasively addressing the connective tissue such as fascia, muscles, tendons and ligaments. The tissue is mobilized and "stimulated" by using a specific move, or a series of moves, over precise points of the horse´s body. These could be acupuncture points, trigger points or sites of common injuries. By addressing the meridian pathways, together with muscles and fascia, the Equine Touch ™ crosses the line between physical bodywork and an energy modality. It can have the effect of inducing deep relaxation releasing hypertonic and traumatized muscles, improving muscle tone, encouraging recovery from injury and muscle atrophy, reducing the pain spiral and assisting in detoxification and lymphatic drainage by increasing circulation. The horse´s awareness is changed and it is encouraged to rebalance not only physically but emotionally for deep relaxation also encourages the autonomic nervous system to drop toward repair and renewal. Energy blockages and unwanted structures appear to dissolve as the flow of Ki is stimulated through the meridians. This allows the horse to tap into its own innate healing ability and to allow it to work to its maximum potential.
Your Horse will thank you.
A trusting relationship from the start causes all handling and training to be easier in coming years, learn how to develop this from birth. Also, evaluating what is causing an adult horse to "misbehave" can determine how to resolve many troubles and issues.
It has been my experience, that many horse owners and riders find themselves frustrated because of behaviors that they don´t know how to change. It is especially important if those behaviors create dangerous situations, that a resolution be found. Of course, sometimes we can "ride it out", but that is not always the most feasible choice, for obvious reasons. Having years of experience in training horses, and teaching humans both in ground skills and riding skills, I have learned many techniques that will help a variety of horse and human types, in a variety of situations. The teachers who have helped me on this Journey (besides the horse), have been John Lyons, Richard Shrake, Buck Brannaman, Pat Parelli and Mark Rashid. Of course, there have been many others… too numerous to mention, but appreciated none the less. We can evaluate what the undesirable behavior is, and track the source. Then we can build a new foundation for a desirable outcome!
Discover some new keys to true partnership.
I was fortunate to spend most of my life on farms and ranches, so horses were always very close to me. From a humble beginning with a mare who was my first horse, and produced 5 foals for me, to having a breeding/boarding/training facility in southern Michigan, I eventually found a way to understand horses better, by studying the works of John Lyons, Mark Rashid, and especially Pat Parelli. My training through Parelli Natural Horsemanship brought me to working at the Atwood Ranch in northern California, where the mares and foals in our care taught me volumes of information!! A Hippotherapy facility brought me to southeastern Arizona, and then when I moved into Tucson, I was invited to work in Equine Facilitated Learning with Barbara Collier, BSN, LPC, SEP. My Equine partner, Freedom is part of a 3-horse healing herd, and is very happy NOT to be trail riding anymore!! Camping, hiking and cycling are also Joys of my life - especially with David.

Essential Oils, Homeopathy, Red Light Therapy, the right balance of quality hay, minerals and herbs... can make a huge difference in your horse. In todays fast moving world, there is a plethora of information about what you can buy in order to maintain your horse´s health, or treat injuries or illnesses. It can be very overwhelming.
Years of studying alternative methods of building healthy immune systems, which in turn can prevent taking unnecessary measures for treating illnesses, have given me a wide range of modalities to choose from. Having become certified as an Equine Touch™ Practitioner required me to learn important aspects of all-around horse health, especially in regards to good dental care, quality hoof care, and well-fitting saddles. Studying the benefits of and application of Red Light Therapy has deepened my awareness of meridians and acupressure points, which are critical aspects of applying techniques which allow the horse to heal itself. As a horse owner, it is very important to be as educated as you can be, in order to help your equine friends live a long, healthy and happy life!
